The customer presented us with a clone key that relies on a battery. Unfortunately, the battery had discharged, causing the key to lose all its information. This is a pretty common issue for clone keys and can be frustrating as the car won’t start without a properly programmed key.

To tackle this, we decided to use an original transponder key. A transponder key comes equipped with a chip that communicates with the car’s ignition system. For our key programming, we employed the Advanced Diagnostics MVP Pro machine, a reliable tool in our locksmith kit. Thanks to our regular usage, we enjoy unlimited tokens with this device, which makes the process efficient and economical.

We proceeded to cut a new key for the transponder and used the Advanced Diagnostics to program it. Securing the pin was crucial, and once we had it, the key programming was a breeze. The customer was relieved and pleased to have a functional key, and the PT Cruiser was running smoothly once more.

Handling Voltage Issues PT Cruiser

While programming, a common issue with PT Cruisers is low voltage. Our PT Cruiser was displaying less than 12 volts, specifically around 10 volts. Despite connecting an extra battery, the voltage read as too low initially. However, with the booster in place, we successfully managed to program the key, demonstrating that a slightly lower voltage doesn’t always prevent success.

Key programming isn’t just about cutting and encoding keys; it involves problem-solving and adapting to unexpected situations, like voltage issues in vehicles. The satisfaction of seeing a happy customer drives us to improve continually.
